I left Marrakech in a taxi this morning, hoping to escape the 44 degree heat and found it was even hotter in the mountains – that is definitely unusual. But no choice; the l’Amandier site was due a visit.
Despite the heat, work was continuing and even Said’s dad was wielding a hoe and clearing the land to get it ready for ploughing the gardens.

The guys were (re)tiling the plunge pool. The foreman wasn’t happy with a mix of colours and they are now re-doing it. The tiles are hand-made and subject to varying colour shade differences which I actually don’t mind, but the foreman clearly is a perfectionist on this matter.

Villa 6 was receiving its waterproofing on the roof terrace…

And most exciting of all, the first of the iron door frames have arrived (I know…I’m getting excited about doorframes, I clearly need to get out more!). After all the head scratching in Marrakech, they are on site and ready to be installed. That will be the real test…but they look good so far and the final colour will be black to contrast with the natural colouring of the floor and walls.
